Feb the 8 1874 Hutsonville, Crawford Co., Ill.

Dear Cousin

I take this pen in hand to let you know how we all are We are all well at present hoping these few lines will find you enjoying the same blessing. My pen is so poor I will take a pencil I did not get an answer to the last letter I wrote so I thought I would write again We have a very mild winter scarsely freezing ice at all We had a big fire in town a few weeks ago eight business houses was burned they saved most of their goods though a great deal was burned it was set on fire is the supposition Our relation are all well so for us I know and Abe Harrison was married New Years day to a girl by the name of Goodman (should be Goodwin) Our children are going to school The two oldest are getting pretty well advanced in their study. I want you to write as soon as you get this as we are talking strongly of going to Colorado if we can sell our harvest, as we have 50 acres of wheat. I would like very much to see you and William and all the children. They are going to build a Railroad here this summer to pass through Hutsonville they are at work on it now in places It is getting so dark I can hardly see so I will come to a close good by
