ALLEN, CLOUSE, FORD, HORNBACK, MILSAY, MONTGOMERY, PARKER, WEISS posted by Donna Isom MacDougall on June 17, 1999

Although I have a great deal of information about my Crawford County MONTGOMERY ancestors, I have not been able to find much about the ALLEN and CLOUSE families. My maternal grandmother, Gladys Cordelia (MONTGOMERY)Allen, married Luther Sherman ALLEN. His parents were James E. ALLEN and Elizabeth (Betsy) CLOUSE. He was probably born in 1853 and she in 1858. They had several children - Carl, James, Ida May, Mary, who married first a FORD and second George C. WEISS, Emma Jane, Elijah Oscar, who married Wilma MILSAY and had three children, and Luther Sherman ALLEN, my grandfather. James E. ALLEN died, though I don't know when, and Elizabeth remarried a man named HORNBACK and had at least two more children, twin daughters named Cora and Ora. My grandmother Glady's parents were Andrew Jackson MONTGOMERY and Mary Frances CLOUSE. Her father was named William CLOUSE and her mother was Sarah PARKER, according to her marriage license. Elizabeth and Mary Frances (mother! ! s of my grandmother and grandfather) were first cousins. I have not been able to find the name of Elizabeth's father, nor anything else about the CLOUSE family. Mary Frances CLOUSE put her heritage as English and German on her marriage certificate, so I assume the Clouse family did come from Germany at some point.
